Adventure Camp: July 15-22, 2018

SUNDAY

Adventure Camp Sunday

A great group of kids assembled for Adventure camp yesterday and 24 hours is now complete. The bus ride started us off. It was a beautiful night at Rattlesnake Point as we made camp at the top of the Niagara escarpment. The view across the top of Burlington was spectacular. Everyone pitched in to help with the tasks and so meal and setup seemed so easy. Great cooking by Robert, Nathan, Sophie and Max(Emma)!

Our reflection on how our group brings so many good things together was nicely summarized with the “stone soup” story during reflection. Then we had s’mores before bed! In the morning, cmp was so peaceful in the morning. And by 9 we were on the rock wall!

MONDAY

Adventure Camp Monday

Rock climbing was enjoyed and many made it very high in their climbing. The hike was a good challenge that tested endurance. After arriving at Kelso we stopped to survey the mountain we had crossed. Ice cream helped! At kelso we checked out our canoe skills and everyone passed with flying colours! When we reached camp the heaven opened on us and we got soaked! We took shelter under the pavilions and waited it out. Rainbows told us the storm had passed! Onwards to the Grand River!

TUESDAY

Adventure Camp Tuesday

After packing up from Kelso, the bus came and drove the group to our launch pont on Water Street in Cambridge. A new shipment of food was packed into the group sags and everyone was organized into their canoe teams. We met Brian, our guide and lifeguard from Grand River Rafting. Brian showed the group the river and how to canoe effectively and safely. The river was enjoyed and discovered. The group arrive and set up camp at 3 Sister campsite on the river.

WEDNESDAY

The group canoed from 3 Sister site to Brant Conservation in perfect weather on a beautiful sunny day

THURSDAY

The group arrive safely in good spirits to Cockshutt Bridge and was shuttled back to Brant Conservation Area where their group campsite was still set up. Our River Guide remarked how motivated and cooperative the group had been throughout the trip. Everyone was healthy and in good spirits, glad to arrive back home at Brant.
