Day/Overnight Unit Leader Descriptions

Day Camp Leader: ~ Minimum age requirement: 16 years old by Dec. 31, 2017
- Participate in all staff training event and meetings, as required.
- Lead and care for campers ages 5-10 years.
- Work at camp Monday to Friday, from 8am to 6pm, with an overnight on Thursdays.
- Work together with a staff team (2-4 leaders) and a unit (10 campers) to plan a unique schedule and participate in special events with the whole camp (meals, chapel, Thurs. night program, etc.)
- Provide 1:1 support and integration for campers with physical and/or developmental needs.
- Supervise campers and ensure safety through all aspects of camp life.
- Have time off on weekday evenings, weekends and late Thurs night after campers are settled, unless assigned to night supervision.
Overnight Camp Leader: ~ Minimum age requirement: 17 years old by Dec. 31, 2017
- Participate in all staff training events and meetings, as required.
- Lead and care for campers ages 7-15 years.
- Work at camp for 8 sessions (6 camps are 5 nights, 1 camp is 6 nights and 1 camp is 4 nights).
- Lead a unit group (8 campers) with a staff team (2-4 leaders) through all activities, meals, cabin times, camp-out, etc. and participate in all camp special events (chapel, meals, evening program, etc.)
- Provide 1:1 support and integration for campers with physical and/or developmental needs.
- Supervise campers and ensure safety through all aspects of camp life.
- Take time off between camp sessions or as arranged during the camp day.

As a Unit Leader, you are required to:
- Hold current certification of Standard First Aid & CPR by June 23, 2017. Canterbury Hills Camp will cover the First Aid course registration fee.
- Provide a Police Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Attend the May Training Weekend: May 20 (morning) - 22 (afternoon).
- Attend the June Training Week: June 23 (evening) - June 30 (afternoon).
- Commit to the entire term of employment, including the clean-up/closure day on Aug. 26, 2017.
