Get to know our Camp Director
Sharon’s journey with Canterbury Hills began at the age of five as a day camper, and she went on to spend an incredible ten summers as a camper before transitioning to staff. Over the next decade, she served as an LIT, OCL, and Resource Team member. Her time at Canterbury ignited a deep passion for community building, youth leadership, and nature exploration—passions that ultimately led her through a Bachelor’s degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and back into a career in outdoor education. After spending four years as a program director with a United Church Outdoor Ministries program in Niagara, she returned to Canterbury Hills in 2022 as the Year-Round Camp Director, now entering her fourth year in the role.
Sharon’s favourite camp activity? Campfire! She loves selecting the perfect storybook for storytime, creating magical moments for campers, and nurturing creative leadership in staff and LITs. Outside of camp, Sharon enjoys board games, her Thursday night book club, long road trips with great audiobooks (and even better company), and camping adventures with her wife.
When Sharon was 10, she listed “Canterbury Camp Director” as her dream job—and she’s thrilled to be living that dream today. Sharon treasures the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with campers, staff, families, and the broader Canterbury community, who all make this place her absolute favourite to be.
