Year ROUND STAFF

Meet the Year-Round Team

Sharon Millar

Camp Director

Sharon’s journey with Canterbury Hills began at the age of five as a day camper, and she went on to spend an incredible ten summers as a camper before transitioning to staff. Over the next decade, she served as an LIT, OCL, and Resource Team member. Her time at Canterbury ignited a deep passion for community building, youth leadership, and nature exploration. After spending four years as a program director with a United Church Outdoor Ministries program in Niagara, she returned to Canterbury Hills in 2022 as the Year-Round Camp Director, now entering her fourth year in the role. Zoe Oliveira

Assistant Director

Zoe’s love for summer camp began in her childhood, which inspired her to become a camp staff herself. She joined Canterbury Hills in 2019 as an Overnight Cabin Leader and quickly grew into leadership roles on the Resource Team for two summers. In 2023, Zoe became our Assistant Director, and she is now entering her third summer in this role. Canterbury Hills has become Zoe’s “home away from home,” and she cherishes the opportunity to help create magical camp memories for both campers and staff. When she’s not in the camp office, you’ll often find her at the rock wall, encouraging campers to experience personal growth and sharing her passion for adventure. A recent graduate of OCAD, Zoe studied creative writing and is an aspiring author and published writer.

Tim Blackwood

Property Manager

Tim has served as our Property Manager for over a decade, bringing with him a deep-rooted connection to Canterbury Hills. Growing up attending camp programs—thanks to his parents’ extensive involvement in camp operations—Tim’s journey on the Canterbury staff began at the age of 14, when he first worked in the kitchen. Tim’s children attended and worked at camp too! After a successful career in the trades, Tim returned to camp, where he now applies his skills and expertise as our Property Manager. He takes great pride in maintaining and caring for our camp, and there’s rarely a challenge Tim can’t tackle. His dedication and diverse range of skills make him an invaluable part of the Canterbury Hills team.

A 2019 graduate of the University of Ottawa, Zya has since spent time adventuring and working with youth in five countries. Her favourite camp activities? Hiking and crafts!
